KIKA, Class40 No. 136, launched in 2014 by the renowned Italian shipyard Bert Mauri to a design by celebrated French naval architect Samuel Manuard, represents one of the finest examples of the "pointu" generation, the sharp-bowed Class40 yachts that played a significant role in the evolution of the class. Even today, this hull configuration remains highly appreciated by Mediterranean sailors for its excellent upwind performance and its ability to handle the short, steep seas that are typical of the Mediterranean.
The yacht was originally built as the centerpiece of the Green Challenge project, an initiative aimed at promoting sustainable offshore sailing through the development and integration of advanced energy self-sufficiency systems.
Unlike many yachts in the same category, this Class40 has never competed in major ocean campaigns or crossed the Atlantic. Its racing history has been limited exclusively to the Mediterranean, with participation in only a handful of offshore events, including two editions of the Roma per Due, the Genova–Trieste, and the Giro di Sardegna. As a result, the boat has enjoyed remarkably light use and minimal structural fatigue.
Since 2022, the current owner has undertaken an extensive refit and continuous upgrade program, culminating in a complete repaint in the current red, black, and white livery, together with ongoing professional maintenance.
One of this yacht's most valuable features is its exceptional structural condition. The hull has never suffered any structural damage—an increasingly rare characteristic among Class40s that have completed demanding ocean racing campaigns.
The deck layout reflects the outstanding craftsmanship of the Bert Mauri shipyard. All running rigging has been manufactured using premium materials with professionally executed splices, meticulous finishing throughout, and a deck organization designed to allow every maneuver to be controlled safely from the cockpit without the need to go forward while sailing.
From a technical standpoint, the yacht is equipped with 750-liter water ballast tanks on each side, further divided into two independent compartments. This configuration significantly reduces free-surface effect when the ballast tanks are only partially filled, improving the yacht's dynamic stability and maximizing ballast efficiency under sail.
The sale includes the complete inventory listed in the technical specifications, together with the dedicated cradle, which can be easily transported on a standard trailer.
Today, KIKA represents an outstanding opportunity for anyone looking to enter the Class40 fleet with a reliable, competitive, and meticulously maintained yacht. She is perfectly suited for major offshore races, ambitious racing programs, or long-distance high-performance cruising.
A yacht with a clean history, high-quality construction, a design by one of the most respected Class40 designers, and a level of preparation that allows her to sail immediately without requiring any major work.
