Anyone who dreams of relaxed cruising in a boat that instantly tells a story will soon end up with a classic foredeck cruiser. This Bakdekker 750 from 1904 is exactly that kind of presence—one that naturally makes you slow down. She measures 7.50 metres in length and 2.00 metres in beam, with a draft of approx. 0.60 metres. That makes her perfectly at home on inland waterways, canals and ditches, but also on lakes and rivers. Her steel hull and traditional lines give her that recognisable, timeless look you want in a historic motorboat, while the layout invites you to step aboard with family and friends for a day trip or a weekend away.

The Bakdekker 750 is built for easy-going leisure cruising. She runs comfortably at a cruising speed of around 6 km/h and can reach about 7.5 km/h. According to an expert in historic vessels, she was built in the period 1903 to 1906, making her a true classic foredeck cruiser. At the same time, she has been used in recent years exactly as you would want to use her today: day cruising, leisure boating and weekend trips. The boat has a warm, inviting atmosphere on board and is an eye-catcher in almost any harbour or along any quay. This is not a standard open boat, but a characterful steel classic that adds an extra sense of experience to every trip.

How does she handle and how is she steered?

She is steered with a wheel from an outside helm position, which makes the connection with the water and surroundings even more enjoyable. In the summer of 2025 a hydraulic steering system was installed (Navi Mare GE 50), intended for agile and comfortable steering. You notice this especially during slow manoeuvring, docking and turning in narrower waters. The boat has a single rudder and feels most at ease on relaxed cruising trips—exactly as you would expect from a foredeck cruiser.

What engine is installed and what can you expect?

The Bakdekker 750 has one inboard diesel engine: a Peugeot Indenor DTP with 45 hp and four cylinders, electric start. She is equipped with instruments such as a fuel gauge, temperature gauge and tachometer, so you can keep a clear overview while underway. The diesel tank has a capacity of 42 litres, matching the calm cruising profile of this boat. The electrical system includes, among other things, an alternator, battery charger and voltmeter, with two 12V batteries on board. Please note: according to the owner, the starter battery is on the light side; a heavier battery is recommended for extra margin.

What maintenance has been done recently?

In 2026 the boat was taken out of the water and the antifouling treatment was also carried out. In spring 2026, the Jabsco 21770 plain-bearing pump was replaced by an upgraded version with ball bearings and a mechanical seal, replacing the old shaft seals. New anodes were also fitted by the yard where she is stored ashore during winter. The owner states that the boat is kept every winter in a covered winter storage facility, which is reassuring for anyone buying a steel motorboat and valuing a tidy winter period out of the water.

What known points of attention are there?

There is some wood rot present in the left window frame. This is a concrete point to factor into your plans, especially if you want to finish her neatly. In addition, as mentioned, a heavier starter battery is recommended. Other than that, no other known defects have been reported, and the engine is operational.

On board you will find practical equipment that makes boating immediately comfortable, such as a cockpit tent, exterior cushions, a swim platform, and of course fenders and lines. For anchoring there are two anchors with chain and line. Safety equipment includes a lifebuoy and an electric bilge pump.
